Panelists Sharon Yokote, Can Truong, and Betty Wang discussed consumer concerns and highlighted pathways to recovery.

Teleconference Speakers:

  • Sharon Yokote has been an advocate for mental health consumers for more than fifteen years. She’s currently the vice-chair of Hawaii’s State Council on Mental Health, and is a member of CMHS’s National Advisory Council Committee on Consumer-Survivor Issues.
  • Can Truong is a mental health recovery consultant, helping consumers by teaching recovery education, to learn about advocacy, and to help them secure work. He is the executive director for Enterprise People, Inc., a business incubator for consumers. He’s also the founder of the Center for Education and Empowerment, which promotes recovery in higher education.
  • Betty Wang is a housewife and mother who has lived in New Jersey for thirty-eight years. She wants to share her experience as an Asian American from a Taiwanese background of needing, seeking, and finding help and of experiencing mental health recovery.
